How to measure learning process

Learning is a process through which people go through to acquire knowledge or skill.

Learning is a beginning of a new thing and it is an endless process, but for a student learning becomes very important as it sets the base of the career of the child.

It becomes very important for parents to measure the learning of their children.

Assessment is a process to know how students are performing in their studies, it becomes very important to trace their progress.

The main objective of measuring the learning process is to improve student learning.

Assessment helps us spot the area of interest of the student and where they need to work.

Since the world is hit by the pandemic, the teachers and faculty are finding it difficult to evaluate their students on a fair basis.

There are several ways for evaluating students which can be used during online mode:

• Online quizzes
• Essay questions
• Online interviews
• Dialogue simulations
• Game-type activities
• Peer evaluation and review

The traditional methods of assessment like summative and objective assessments are still considered one of the best ways to evaluate one’s performance, but this does not provide an equal chance to showcase their skills. These tests are conducted once the syllabus for that term is completed.

There are certain ways to evaluate the performance of the children-

• Curriculum-based tests – as mentioned earlier that these are still considered one of the best methods to evaluate children’s performance. The advantage of these tests is that these tests are frequently conducted. If the marks go up then it can be realized that the particular concept is clear to the child.
• Observe and interact- observation and interaction with the child is another way of evaluating children’s performance through their regular interaction in the classroom. Positive feedback and meaningful also give the students an extra motivation and encouragement boost that can change the student’s perception from negative to positive.
•  Frequent evaluation- frequent evaluation should be ensured as aware the children are aware and effectively studying. Frequent evaluation helps in bringing out the things which need to be taken of care and which topics can keep aside for a time being.

Learning is a never-ending process and in this one has himself realize and measure the learning process.
