Extreme sports

The adrenaline junkies and the thrill-seekers are always looking for something outside the mainstream sports to feel the rush and risk to get their adrenaline pumping. The thing that these people enjoy, to feel it all, is extreme sports. Extreme sports or action sports refer to activities that involve the risk of uncertainty. These sporting events are characterized by a high degree of speed and danger.

Playing extreme sports doesn’t just give you the thrill that you desire to feel alive; it benefits your whole being as well. Here are some benefits of extreme sports that make you throw caution to the wind and play them:

  1. Pushing the limit: One thing that a sports person loves more than anything in the world is going their limit. Extreme sports are all about making your limits mentally, physically, and in every way possible.
  2. Stress reliever: The dopamine chemical released by the brain during extreme sports will make you happy and relieve the stress you have been holding onto.
  3. Weight loss: In extreme sports, you work out your whole body, which means you burn more calories than you would while doing a regular workout. It is a fantastic way to stay in shape.
  4. Healthy muscles and heart: Extreme sports combined with the right amount of food consumption will provide you with impressive overall physical fitness and nature.
  5. Ability to stay centered: People who regularly do extreme sports develop a sense of calm during stressful situations. It pushes your physical limits and your mental limits.

Keeping the abovementioned benefits of extreme sports in mind, those who wish to try them can do so by giving the following a shot:

  • Abseiling

In this sport, a person controls descending a rope off a vertical drop to get back to the ground. This extreme sport is often done by mountaineers, climbers, etc.

  • BMX

BMX stands for bicycle motocross. It is one of the most dangerous Olympic sports out there. It is a racing sport where specially built bikes go on a rough, country-cross course filled with obstacles.

  • Canoeing

It is a water sport involving traveling or racing in canoes or kayaks. It is a recreational activity and an extreme sport.

  • Downhill Skateboarding

In this sport, the skateboarders use a hybrid longboard to reach an extremely high speed for downhill riding. Without a stiff and stable board and protective gear, the chances of injury are enormous here.

  • Parkour

It is the art of navigating effortlessly through human-made and natural environments by running, jumping, climbing, rolling, and other movements. This sport doesn’t use any equipment to help.

  • Skydiving

This sport involves jumping out of an airplane mid-flight and going down with the help of a parachute. The parachute is deployed after some freefalling. The adrenaline kick here is more than other extreme sports.

Doing an extreme sport is extremely dangerous; therefore, people must ensure complete safety with the aid of appropriate protective gear. Each extreme sport comes with its benefits and risks, but it allows you to get out of your comfort zone and improve your self-esteem and confidence, and overall mental and physical health.

LATE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON EDUCATION IN INDIA

In this new networked age, Technology soars high. We have to rethink what is meant by education, learning, teaching, and schooling. Though there are numerous benefits of the impact of Technology on education, there are disadvantages too.

To begin with, Online student feedback is not accurate. In a traditional classroom, the student can instantly resolve their doubts and difficulties face to face. Personalized feedback has a positive impact on students. Human interaction makes the learning process more comfortable and also motivates the students to do better. While in E-learning, students do become dissatisfied due to the lack of personalized feedback. It also hinders the social growth of the child. The atmosphere of a traditional classroom can never be created through Technology. Hence the disconnect is there. Due to the constant use of electronic devices for education and other purposes participating students undergo contemplation, remoteness, and lack of interaction. As a result, they are experiencing signs of social isolation due to a lack of human communication. This often leads to several mental health issues such as anxiety, heightened stress, and negative thoughts. These situations need careful monitoring with the help of experts.

Moreover, E-learning requires strong self-motivation and time management skills. Lack of motivation is one of the prime reasons why many learners fail to complete the online course. In a traditional classroom, face-to-face interaction, communication with their professors, peer activities, and strict schedules all work in unison to keep the student on track. This not only motivates but also develops the urge to do better. But in an online learning environment, the student has to fend for himself and has to self-motivate, which is quite an uphill task. Another drawback is the lack of communication skills in online students. E-learning is proving to be highly effective at improving the students’ academic knowledge. However, the ability to develop communication skills is often neglected. Neglecting the ability to communicate will inevitably lead to learners who excel in theoretical knowledge but fail to pass their knowledge to their peers. Moreover, it also hampers their ability to work effectively as a team in real-life working situations.

Unfortunately, the most significant disadvantage of online learning is cheating through various means while completing the modules. In a traditional classroom, strict procedures are in place during an assessment. Online assessments do not have that capability. Without the video feed and a stringent verification process, online reviews result in a wholly fraudulent test result.

Moreover, in online learning, facilitators tend to only focus on theoretical concepts. As a result, practical knowledge is impacted. The application of practical skills, which happen very naturally in classroom settings with teamwork, gets affected online. As face-to-face interaction and physical communication do not occur online, the implementation of these skills takes a back seat, impacting online learning effectiveness.  The lack of face-to-face contact with the instructor inhibits proper student feedback, causes social isolation, and students feel a lack of pressure. This causes the students to abandon their studies midway. The professors’ physical presence and constant communication are also an effective method for improving student retention.

Moreover, E-learning is limited to individual fields. All educational disciplines are not suited to the E-learning mode. For now, E-learning trends are best suited for Social sciences and Humanities, rather than scientific fields like Medicine and Engineering.  No number of online lectures can substitute an autopsy for medical students or real-life industrial training for Engineering students. Though this may change in the future, we are not at a point where we can teach such subjects online. However, online learning is inaccessible to the computer illiterate population. To take up online education, some basic knowledge of computers is needed. This gap in computer literacy results in significant trouble in accessing the E-learning method of learning. Despite the booming growth in technological capabilities, the rate of computer literacy is still low. Until and unless this aspect is not addressed, the gap in computer literacy will impact online education.  Also, the lack of accreditation and quality assurance undermines the effectiveness of E-learning. Low-quality learning modules weaken the legitimacy of online learning. Lack of certification for any course would result in a worthless degree and not only leave you in debt but no better prepared for the highly competitive workforce. Though these may be the reasons, Technology was so late in impacting our education system, and we still are at a nascent stage.

Despite these pitfalls, Technology is growing enormously, and digital learning translates into an improved society that results in a smarter civilization that is well informed in the latest and new Technology. Improving the skill level, communication techniques, and technological prowess of students’ online learning improves our society at breakneck speed. Whether this technology is being incorporated in the workforce or an individual’s educational spectrum, the world can benefit immensely.

Current political event – just a gist of Election 2021

India is a densely populated country of 1.39 billion and is divaricated into various cultures and customs. There are 28 states and eight union territories in India at present. The Indian constitution recognizes 22 major languages of India in its “8th Schedule” apart from the official language English. They also happen to be the major literary languages in India, with a considerable writing volume. However, we have more than 121 languages, including every dialect spoken across India by over 10000 people. As per the 2011 census report, the number of mother tongues is 19,569; however, 96.71 percent of the country has one of the 22 scheduled languages as their mother tongue.

Furthermore, being such a divergent country, we always need leaders who would ensure our development and respect our people, cultures, customs, and beliefs. The sound and capable leader lead their people and country to peace and prosperity but building a strong nation doesn’t revolve around the leaders. As a citizen; we should always do our duty towards our country by obeying the rules, pay timely taxes, casting our valuable vote to choose the right leader for our state or country etc. That brings me to the subject “Election 2021.”

The election in 2021 comprised the by-election to the Lok Sabha, elections to the Rajya Sabha, elections to legislative assemblies of 4 states, and one union territory, namely Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Pondicherry. On 2nd May, the votes were counted, and results were declared. As the citizens of India and residents of those respective states, we cast our precious votes. Some of us are delighted to know the results, and some of us are disheartened. But the election is not simple and is not just about losing or winning. It is more than that. It is a political affair and the political tricks played by the parties like luring the voters to their sides with cloying talks, money, significant promises, degrading the reputation of other parties, fights, and many more. The election process starts way before the day of vote when parties get a chance of putting across their thoughts to persuade the voters to vouch for their victory.

The most talked about subject these days is West Bengal Election. In this pandemic situation where the number of cases surging exponentially every day across all states where West Bengal is not spared either, voters took the risk of going out and casting a vote. The election committee ensured the safety measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus while the voting process carries on. Is that the only worry West Bengal citizens had, especially the ones from rural and suburbs? The news of Election violence 2021 in West Bengal (WB) was on every newspaper and online news portal where four people were allegedly killed in the name of self-defense. One other person died after clashes between supporters of rival parties. Both the parties (TMC and BJP) are blaming each other for the incidents. This isn’t new in that state. West Bengal, which lies in eastern India, has seen thousands of people killed during decades of political unrest. Many news portals had given their analysis of why and how Coochbehar, WB, took place. Many didn’t digest the happenings well and doubted the election process and the parties. Many feared to step out and cast a vote.  However, the election process didn’t stop, and TMC pulled off a spectacular victory in a high-stakes electoral battle for a third consecutive term in West Bengal.

How was the election for the other states? In Tamil Nadu, for that matter, the election is the first in the state without two of Tamil Nadu’s towering political figures, M Karunanidhi and J Jayalalithaa. The gap they left in the political arena has given rise to other fronts over the last few years. After ten years in opposition, the DMK eventually won the election, especially when the AIADMK lacked a charismatic leader to match the stature of the late J Jayalalithaa.

LDF rewrote history in Kerala on 2nd May by winning a second term in a state that had not returned an incumbent government is found decades. The 76-year-old CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan became only the third chief minister in Kerala’s history to be re-elected and the first to continue in office after completing a full term. The LDF’s win is just the second instance of a ruling front receiving consecutive terms.

While BJP managed to beat the incumbency factor and massive anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) sentiments with the ruling NDA, it was ahead of the Congress-led Grand Alliance with leads. It won 73 seats in the 126-member House in Assam. Meanwhile, in Pondicherry, the NDA looked set to form the government, with NR Congress winning eight seats and its ally BJP securing four seats in the 30-member House. At the moment, I remember the words of Groucho Marx, American comedian, “Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing it and applying the wrong remedies.” I fall in that category of people who strongly believe people join politics to set things, processes, and laws right. And then, they come across the restrictions imposed by parties within and outside, the wall of election and re-election, the pettiness of political tricks which gets in the way of the life and the business of the people. Eventually, they forget about their true intention of setting things right and remember only Politics. The opinion might sound harsh yet true!

Importance of early learning

Early childhood care and education (ECCE), as defined by UNESCO, is the “holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.”

Childhood is an essential time in everyone’s lives because when they first learn how to interact with others, including peers, teachers, and parents, and begin to develop an interest that will stay with them throughout their lives. However, early childhood education or learning refers to that period i.e. from a child’s birth to when they enter kindergarten. It’s when children learn critical social-emotional skills, and the partnership is formed between the child, their parents, and teachers. When this is done successfully, it lays the basic foundation for the child and continues throughout the child’s education. It’s a common misperception that early childhood education is only about learning fundamental skills.

There are substantial shreds of evidence that show brain development is most rapid in the early stage of a child’s life. The emotional, social, and physical development of young children certainly directly affects the adults they will ultimately become when stimulation, support, and nurture can bring either detrimental or overall effect. Children who are enrolled in early childhood programs achieve more success at school. As a result, they have better-improved health and a lower level of dependence as adults. Learning delays can be significantly reduced with the help of early interventions. It is agreed that the complexities of human development are remarkable, going far beyond what most of us can imagine. We are rooted in the belief that each child charts a unique course predominantly based on the experiences met between birth and adolescence. Therefore, understanding the importance of early education is so important.

No matter there are differences in opinion about formal pre-kindergarten education, children benefit from receiving some education imparted during their early developmental years. However, these types of instruction may not be best suited for all children. While some children benefit immensely from preschool, it may not be the best educational setup for other children. In most cases, children benefit most by receiving academic instruction from their parents. Parents must evaluate a child’s unique personality before determining which program is best suited for a child since all programs do not benefit children the same way.

Initial education is crucial, and as parents, it is critical to walk in the best direction for their children. In this process, a parent needs to be indifferent with the child and overcome the fear that other people are responsible for guiding and teaching. The most excellent satisfaction will be to see their child prepared to face any situation in life as an adult in the future. The initial education at any time is synonymous with leaving everything in the hands of the teachers and the school or kindergarten, and the learning at home will set the pattern of the child’s actions outside of it. For this reason, we must follow education models focused on positive values and daily reinforcement of what is learned outside is the surest way to inculcate bases that are sustainable over time.

A sense of wellbeing is essential to explore their talents. The positive interactions with friends and teachers encourage a positive view of themselves. Moreover, children should be taught to handle stress which is an important impact on early childhood education. There is so much diversity in the modern world, and children need to appreciate and accept the difference in society. Each new word, experience, and person can mold a young child into the person they will grow up to be. This is because it is possible to have a more fantastic impression on a person during their early childhood days. Parents should understand this and give early childhood education its due importance.Recent studies reveal the importance of early childhood education as it can influence the child’s mental, emotional, and physical development. Hence, for increasing the children’s quality of education, early childhood education and early startup have to be ensured so that they do not face any problem in the future.

Breakfast at my House

During the week we’re often walking out the door with a coffee in one hand and slice of toast in the other, but on weekends breakfast is never rushed. It’s a late affair, sometimes spilling over to lunch, with lots of reading and chatter in between courses of fruits, poached eggs, honey and toast. One of our favorite things we like to serve when friends are visiting are buckwheat blueberry pancakes.
