Share your best holiday story

It was back in 2019 when I went to Shimla with my friends. It was one of the most memorable holidays I had spent. While we had been discussing going somewhere for some time, we hadn’t made any solid plans. The trip was planned kind of last minute and a few of our friends couldn’t make it for that reason, so it was just 3 of us who ended up going. We finalized our plans only 3 days before going and we were plenty lucky that everything ended up working out with the reservations and tickets. Especially since we went in December, which is the peak season for people to go to Shimla to see snow.

We had booked train tickets until halfway from where we were to catch a taxi to Shimla. The journey was filled with beautiful views and some periods of nausea. We passed out in the taxi as soon as we reached the mountains. The weather got a bit gloomy on our way and it started raining right as we were about to enter Shimla. None of the three of us had ever seen snowfall and we all wished to see it. I would keep checking the weather forecast to see if there would be snowfall when we would be in Shimla but alas, the forecast indicated only cold temperatures with no snow.

After struggling through the rain to reach our hotel, we checked into our room to freshen up and get warmed. We had gone for only 3 days so we decided not to waste any time and went out to explore the mall road even though it was still drizzling. Imagine our surprise when it starts snowing an hour later while we were in the middle of the market. It was our first time seeing snow and it was quite honestly a beautiful experience shared with the people who matter most.

The whole experience was incredible with all the locals coming out and dancing in the first snow of the season with loud music playing from different places. In only a matter of minutes, the whole area was covered in a light blanket of snow. Since we weren’t prepared for the sudden snow, the three of us quickly found a cosy bakery as the intensity of the snowfall increased. We sat there for a while, having some tea and enjoying the snow and then left to get back to the hotel. We ended up playing in the snow for a while before calling it a day.

The next day there was a thick layer of snow everywhere but it had already started to thaw. However, we luckily got to experience another round of snowfall that day. We went to visit some popular landmarks and a bunch of cafes and restaurants. The rest of the trip was fun but the highlight was the snowfall, which we had not even been expecting to see. The entire trip was pretty short and soon it was time to get back home.

As we were leaving, we looked back towards the mountains and there were clouds gathered over the top which soon started to snow again. An appropriate farewell for a bunch of tourists coming to experience snowfall together.

What’s a talent that the world is better without and why?

Let’s face it, not everyone has the talent to become a world-class dancer or a genius violinist. Sometimes even being a typical human being is too tedious. We aren’t moulded to be the same person, thus we all have unique talents, and that’s all right. Some talents are good but some of them, though, are being dismissed as “useless.” Is it just? Well, it depends on what talent it is. Useless talent or not, there is one talent without which the world would be a better place.

Care to take a guess?

It’s the talent that some people have to turn a simple conversation into a dark one by making a dark joke.

Can you imagine that some people derive pleasure from having a dark sense of humour and making dark jokes?

To be fair, if you think about it, the definition of humor or what you find humorous is rather nebulous. There isn’t a formula for what constitutes humor. Therefore, it is up to each individual to interpret what they find humorous. And because of this factor, humor is one of the hardest concepts to understand.

Similarly, the interpretation of dark humor varies from person to person. It is a comedic approach that denigrates topics that are typically regarded as taboo. In some cases, it is considered difficult or serious to talk about these subjects. It’s possible that some individuals might describe it as depressing jokes about life.

Dark humor obviously requires a dark theme to be effective. Satire, on the other hand, can start serious conversations about subjects that, in certain cases, people might not want to discuss. War and terrorism, murder, violence, and death are a few topics that frequently link to dark humor, as well as governmental corruption, human sexuality, racial or sexual stereotypes, and poverty, illness, or famine.

Dark humor is a controversial concept, especially given the nature of the topics involved. Today, however, high-profile comedians on stage and on social media platforms frequently use it. Additionally, it appears that more and more people are enjoying dark comedy as these jokes are spreading across the internet. This kind of humor can be both amusing and uncomfortable at the same time.

What are its effects, though?

First off, a lot of individuals employ dark humor as a type of comedy. People using humor to deal with tragedy or just to find some much-needed laughter is not unusual. The main issue with dark humor is when people intentionally promote anti-semitic, homophobic, or racial ideas through it. Such jokes are hurtful to other people and hurt society.

Some people think that, when used intelligently and artistically, a dark sense of humor is good. The main goal of this type of humor is to heal those who have experienced similar traumas or bad situations by bringing them together. However, in many cases, its impact is quite detrimental to individuals and society.

Even while thinking about using dark humor with caution, do you think that it is okay for people to make such jokes?

Keep in mind that everything you say has an impact on whoever is hearing. Whether they take it as a joke or not, the thought still registers in their brain, and there are only so many negative thoughts that one can take in until it becomes overwhelming. So for society to get better, it is essential that the people in it focus more on uplifting each other and not bringing each other down with a dark sense of humor.

AI to crack traffic woes India

It’s possible that shortly, solutions backed by artificial intelligence (AI) may make it safer to drive on India’s roadways.

On Tuesday, the Indian government said that an AI-powered system might help prevent road accidents, which killed more than a hundred thousand people in the country in 2020. The Indian government has pledged to utilize an AI method using a first-of-its-kind collection of 10,000 photos to stop this from happening.

The dataset was reported to be finely annotated with 34 classifications gleaned from 182 driving sequences on Indian highways captured by a front-facing camera in a car while it was driven about Hyderabad, Bangalore, and their environs.

The Indian Ministry of Science and Technology has said that this novel strategy utilizes the predictive capability of AI to detect dangers on the road and a collision alarm system to relay these alerts to drivers promptly, resulting in several improvements to road safety.

As the rest of the globe transitions to autonomous cars, India may soon acquire automobiles powered by artificial intelligence as well (AI). Researchers from the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), in Hyderabad, have begun a project in Nagpur called Intelligent Solutions for Road Safety through Technology and Engineering (iRASTE), to employ artificial intelligence to make driving safer.

This artificial intelligence system will warn drivers about the dangers on the road by recognizing probable situations that might lead to accidents. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) will be used by the system to identify “grey areas” on the roadway by continually monitoring the many dynamic dangers present across the road network.

The use of artificial intelligence is also helping to make our roadways safer. Waymo, which is an autonomous car branch of Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, is testing self-driving cars in the United Kingdom and California.

These cars are fitted with sensors that enable them to recognize items such as pedestrians or bicycles. These automobiles are so advanced that they can recognize the colour of a traffic signal. The sensors are connected to sophisticated computers, which enable the vehicles to “see” everything that is going on around them, including adverse weather conditions such as fog and rain, drive at any time of day or night, and even travel off-road. Tesla’s Autopilot function, which monitors things like road lines, other vehicles, and the automobiles surrounding it to help drivers stay aware and make safer judgments, also uses AI.

Communication skills for a doctor

Communication skills for a doctor

Have you ever thought about becoming a doctor?

It requires years of serious studying and clinical preparation before you can even enrol in medical school. When you enter medical school, you begin rigorous education that will prepare you to become a medical professional. Medical students spend a significant amount of time perfecting various kinds of skills.

Doctors need a variety of skills, from diagnosing patient symptoms to writing prescriptions for medications and treatment plans. Doctors are highly skilled and respected medical professionals with a range of specialities. As a result, depending on their area of speciality, doctors’ job requirements might differ. A future surgeon, for example, may prioritize honing their scalpel incision and stitching abilities, while a future paediatrician might focus more on learning how to detect ailments frequently encountered in children. However, they sometimes forget about the soft skills that they require for this profession.

To give patients the care they deserve, doctors must possess a strong set of soft skills as well as hard skills. Soft skills are essential for building trusting connections with patients, hearing and comprehending their issues, and empathizing to deliver the best possible treatment. Undoubtedly, one of the most crucial soft skills that doctors should have is communication. Doctors must be able to communicate successfully with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals to practice medicine. A doctor, who is a good communicator, must do the following:

  1. The doctor must regard his or her patient with respect: Competent healthcare professionals are aware of how vulnerable an ill or injured patient is. Being courteous may go a long way in assisting the patient to describe their symptoms, accept responsibility for their actions, and follow directions.
  2. The doctor must have the capacity to communicate with his or her patients in a language they can comprehend: Effective communication is not just about talking; it also involves interpreting the words in an intended manner. Using technical language and medical jargon is acceptable as long as it is done in conjunction with an explanation.
  3. The doctor must not interrupt his or her patients or stereotype them: It’s easy for all of us to interrupt when we know time is running out or we’re in a rush, but a skilled communicator knows that if it can’t be done perfectly the first time, it will have to be redone. Listening carefully and politely will go a long way toward improving the patient’s outcomes.
  4. The doctor must have the capacity to successfully manage the expectations of patients: The healthcare professional may go a long way towards helping the patient grasp his situation by helping him understand the next stages, as well as the possible outcomes and their repercussions.

In conclusion, becoming a successful doctor takes more than simply medical knowledge. Soft skills are just as vital as hard abilities in the modern era of individualized treatment. While doctors must keep current on medical breakthroughs, they must also devote time to improving their soft skills, such as communication, to provide the best possible care to their patients.

Problems of urban women

Problems of urban women

The value of women in society has come into sharper focus in recent years. Nowadays, when promoting women’s empowerment is a top priority in every country, everyone is ready to declare their support for women. Not just in impoverished and disadvantaged countries, but also in affluent ones, yet the problems faced by women are on the rise. Women have been marginalized and discriminated against for a very long time.

Here are some of the most common problems faced by women in India:

  1. Overcoming gender bias: Patriarchy drags down women no matter how much they advance. In this nation, discrimination based on caste, gender, and age is pervasive. Even though women in this country have equal rights, the truth is very different. People can fail to recognize discrimination when it occurs solely through verbal communication.
  2. Violence against women: Despite several regulations and programs, gender-based violence remains a significant public health issue in India. It is also true that despite tough laws against it, human rights breaches continue to occur. This is the grim and sad reality.
  3. Workplace challenges: Women do not get paid equally to men despite working just as hard and efficiently as men do. This still needs to be rectified. They ought to be compensated for their job, not for their gender. Furthermore, companies to this day, factor in whether a woman is married or not, before giving her the job.
  4. Unwanted sexual remarks or advances: No matter where a woman goes, she can’t escape this problem. There appears to be nowhere a woman may feel secure, whether it be at home, the bus stop, a market, or an educational institution. The emotional turmoil and trauma that comes with it just add to the pain.
  5. Being judged on how women dress: We are aware that how we dress has no bearing on our personalities or character, but not everyone is aware of this.  A woman’s character will always be identified by her outfit, regardless of what she wears. No matter how admirable a person she is, if she wears a short dress, she will be seen as a lady with a weak character. Men, on the other hand, don’t experience this. On top of this, while a guy is never reminded that sexually assaulting or molesting a woman is inappropriate and punishable by law, a woman is always warned not to wear some dress or top to avoid getting involved in a situation that might lead to sexual assault.
  6. Marriage-related pressure: It is past time for society to realize that a woman is not just a pressure cooker but also a human being. And she decided to be married. Her age also has nothing to do with getting married. In addition to creating the “ideal age for a woman to marry” for us. If a woman decides to remain unmarried for an extended period, her family and neighbours begin to doubt her modesty.

How is any of this fair?

In today’s world, women are an essential part of society, yet they continue to face these problems. A change is needed; a change is essential to end these monstrosities that continue to take place in society.

Health and well being of the elderly

As we become older, our bodies go through a variety of changes, which can have an impact on our health. The quality of life of seniors needs to keep their health in outstanding condition. This article examines factors that have an impact on the health and well-being of senior citizens.

The ability of the elderly to live freely and participate in daily activities is dependent on their physical health. As we get older, our risk of developing diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and arthritis rises.

Exercising daily is beneficial for seniors. Exercise is beneficial for several aspects of health, including the cardiovascular system, balance, flexibility, blood pressure, and the risk of falling. Walking and gardening are both beneficial activities for elderly persons.

  • Psychological- In particular, for older adults, maintaining one’s mental health is just as important as one’s physical health. Depression, anxiety, and feelings of isolation are common among senior citizens. Depression and cognitive decline are two symptoms that might be brought on by being alone.

Mental well-being involves socialisation. Reading, puzzles, and hobbies are all activities that can improve cognitive function and lower the risk of dementia.

  • Nutrition- Protein, calcium, and vitamin D are the three nutrients that senior citizens need to consume in adequate amounts to prevent osteoporosis. Chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes are less likely to occur in individuals who consume a diet that is well-balanced and consists of fruits, vegetables, and grains in their full forms. Eating can be challenging for elderly people for a variety of reasons, including dental, medical, and mobility issues. Under these conditions, the assistance of a nutritionist or dietician is necessary to guarantee that the elderly receive adequate nutrition.
  • Healthcare- Healthcare is essential for people of older ages. Visits to primary care providers can identify and treat health problems before they become more severe. In addition, geriatricians and physical therapists are qualified to manage problems associated with ageing. The elderly should also be aware of the potential side effects of their drugs. Patients can benefit from the assistance of pharmacists and physicians in taking their medications correctly and avoiding adverse drug interactions.

To summarise, senior citizens should prioritise their health. To have a high quality of life, one has to engage in physical exercise, and mental stimulation, have a healthy diet and receive medical care. To maintain a life that is both pleasant and healthy as we age, we need to make our health a top priority and look for help.

Books vs Films

Both books and movies offer their own unique set of benefits, and both can enlighten as well as entertain us in significant ways. Books and movies can do both. On the other hand, the degree to which an individual is assisted is directly proportionate to the individual’s preferences, goals, and the conditions of their existence.

When compared to other forms of media, such as movies or television shows, the research of a subject, character, or story that is presented in a book is significantly more in-depth and comprehensive. They offer the reader a foundation on which to imagine and build their visualizations, which helps the reader to engage with the content in a manner that is more tailored to them personally. Books are a convenient option for both a form of entertainment and a means of teaching because they do not require much effort to transport and can be located with relative ease.

On the other hand, watching a movie provides not only a visual but also an audio experience, which can be more emotionally engaging and exciting than reading a book. They can take intricate ideas and simplify them so that a wider audience may understand what it is that they are trying to convey. Films are an effective medium for presenting stories because of their capacity to depict dramatic and emotional situations in a way that is engaging to the audience.

In conclusion, the learning experience, the learner’s goals, and the learner’s personal preferences all play a role in determining whether books or films are more effective. The use of several forms of media, each of which possesses its own distinct set of benefits, can enhance how we can both educate ourselves and entertain ourselves. Finding a means to combine the two in a way that is complementary to one another and that strikes the optimal balance between the two is the key to making significant changes in our lives. Figuring out how to mix the two in this way is the key.

Data Analyst Skills and How Important is it to attain.

In today’s world, data can be found in every facet of our life. Over the course of the last ten years, there has been a steady increase in the amount of data that is produced each day, and this trend is expected to continue. The amount of data, both organized and unstructured, that would be stored digitally by the year 2020 was previously estimated to be 44 zettabytes. The amount of data that is generated is estimated to have reached a remarkable 2.5 quintillion bytes at this point, according to more current statistics.

Data analysts are expected to make daily use of a wide range of expertise, including everything from in-depth analysis to data visualization and narrative. You could be writing a SQL query to investigate a dataset one minute, and explaining the implications of your findings to the board of directors the next.

Programming

R and Python are the two programming languages that are utilized the most frequently in data analyst professions. On the basis of whether or not compilation is required before the program may be executed, these languages can be divided into two distinct groups: statistical and scripting.

Math

Jobs in data analysis require a fundamental understanding of mathematics, particularly statistics. The statistical capabilities of Microsoft Excel are capable of managing smaller datasets, even if it is preferable to use a sophisticated programming language such as R for handling enormous datasets.

Machine learning is an automation technology that is essential to any large-scale data processing. Machine learning, sometimes known as ML, is a technique that enables computers to automatically learn new things and carry out tasks without the need for explicit programming. In order to solve a variety of issues, data analysts need to be able to construct, apply, and train the models and algorithms that are most relevant to the datasets they are working with.

Collaboration

Performing data analysis typically requires working alone, but the results of one person’s work can be felt throughout an entire organization. When it comes to ensuring that business goals are achieved with the help of the data-based information that they bring to the table, data analysts need to have the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of teams.
